says to ALL: -The conventions had started and i knew there were new laws and such that were being discussed. It was part of being a scribe to take part of such events, to go to the discussions and take notes, if not take part in what was being discussed. I had rose from the stands and looked over the schedule of events. I was a lofty woman, and I swirled the larl pelt cloak around nad started my steps towards such events.
Violet eyes would light up, the fact to learn more, to take part in the knowledge shared mattered to me. I wanted to open up my horizons and become a more rounded scribe. One of the things on the list was the creation of maps, something that I had taken part in before, but never truly took it all in.
There were things that laid heavily on my mind and i knew to take part in such things would help to ease those thoughts, would make them go away. In fact it was something that I needed too do to stuff things so far away from me that the scent of them would never again threaten me. Each step drew another winding path through the fair, along the central avenue, through the vast crowd of patrons. I would allow the bow of head as I passed a few magistrates one was Skyler who would be speaking i Had looked over the docket and knew that Skyler was one of the higher scribes, his words were imprinted through the scrolls, through the various journals and I had seen him once before at one of the fairs when Malachye had taken me here before, even though I had flown within that wretched basket. I shuddered and lifted my hand and lightly rubbed the tip of my nose, I would pause,
"High Magistrate." I bowed my head in that polite fashion, my eyes lowered as would a Karian woman of high caste do. It was in our rules, in the rules of that of karian traditions where women had little say, we were held to standards like the women of the Tahari.
"Tal, Woman." He spoke and then lifted his hand and ushered me towards the tent of conventions.

says to ▪Unbroken diamant&: Following in well behind you , given a look to the guards as I just gestured toward the tent .. they of course stayed outside of it . Since they weren't really interested in the conversations that happen between scribes.
ducking beneath the flap in order step within , it was hot in here I blamed the massive amounts of air being released from everyone. Which most of it had to be in their heads.. even so foot falls carried me to where you had settled yourself , limbs coiling clumsily beneath me.. I would eventually get the hang of this whole kneeling thing .. Thighs coming together tightly with their own unmovable kiss. taking in a breath wondering if this was going to break out into an argument like most caste conventions do when it comes to scribes who love to hear themselves talk (sorry I'm slow lmao)

says to ..::*Regulators' Penumbr: -I handed you my satchel as I looked around where we would sit, I decided the back row and there I settled as you sunk into tower well out of the way from those that entered. I knew you would tend to my belongings as if they were you own. This I trusted you with. I glanced up to the man that stood at the podium. His robes crisp and to perfection, and I muttered as I looked at my own. "I need to purchase new things." I scoffed inwardly and motioned for the journal and the stylus to be handed to me. The knowledge that woud be shared was directly involved with merchant law, something that was of great interest. I settled there and waited for the things I had requested. I glanced around to see if Shade was about, then swiftly turning my head back to the man that stood there, Skyler the Head Magistrate over the laws of gor. "This is going to be an intense session."
Skyler started to speak.....the first topic that was brought up was in reference to merchant law within the fair.
"Here Ye, Here Ye." the gavel struck and everyone seemed to come to attention. "the first topic on the docket."
The fairs, too, however, have many other functions. It is here the Merchant Law is drafted and stabilized. Beasts of Gor Page 44
I glanced up the sculpted brow furrowed, I listened to what the man was beginning to discuss.-

says to ▪Unbroken diamant&: Taking it within my grasp, I carefully placed it down upon my lap. Weight of it was something I was familiar with considering mine was about the same or just maybe an ounce heavier. Everything was kept within that you'd need , since you never really knew. Turning darkened crown towards you then while I just gave a nod well an indicative one of understanding but my words followed suite..."Never hurts to have several things that you might need. Especially since quills and pens break so easily , Mistress" ..
My Owner was probably here , since his men were and I hadn't gotten the word yet that it was time to leave for good. So it was always better to assume he was around than assuming he wasn't. Peculiar but interesting man .. shaking my head though since my thoughts did not need to dwell there. One subject matter at a time and this was by far more interesting, handing you , your journal and stylus then , voice whispering ... "Lets just hope that no one starts throwing fist, I've seen that happen before." ..
Almond pupils took their studious light as they affixed themselves upon the man speaking. Listening was paramount now while you were taking notes .. my own would be taken mentally of course even if I didn't have much of a use for them anymore

says to ..::*Regulators' Penumbr: -I took the items offered as I took in the sound of your voice and there seemed to be excitement in the front row. "You never know what will occur." the rowdy bunch of male scribes were seated in the front rows. I knew they would be outspoken, fussing about the laws that would be discussed, and my gaze shifted to you. "Yes I need to gather things while at the fair." I knew your Owner wouldn't allow you running freely, and I wouldn't ask you about the change. You'd tell me when ready, but right now you were there at my side knelt in tower. You seemed to be well cared for, tended too, and healthy. That mattered to me even if it shouldn't. However, the stations were different, and even though you were in this station, what you would learn here could in effect benefit the man that owned you now. I would turn my gaze once more to the man that started to speak over the louder bunch.
"Male scribes are so Boisterous I'm surprised it's not a Caste of simply women." I almost laughed be refrained from such. I looked at Skyler as he stood there so regal. Samos one of my own guards was near the podium, He had been selected to protect Sklyer from the onslaught of views and voices that would raise. Even without his weapons, He stood a mere 6'2, a strong man,a man of the Red Caste. I smiled seeing him stand there in his new attire, that of the guard of Skyler during the events of the Fair.
He looked out into the crowd and his eyes settled immediately on you then he motioned with his finger towards you, wondering if I had owned you and I gave a simple shake of head and he nodded and stood there near Skyler.
"Now, Listen up there are a few changes that are being documented, things you each need to know and practice." ...Skyler paused.
The scales used by merchants, for example are calibrated by using a stone which is standardized and calibrated by using the official “stone” kept at Sardar. A similar rule exists for all “official” measurements used in trade. The weight and the stone, incidentally, are standardized thought the Gorean cities by Merchant Law, the only common body of law existing among the cities. The official “stone” actually a sold metal cylinder, is kept by the way, near the Sardar. Four times a year, on a given day in each of the four greats fairs held annually near the Sardar, it s brought forth with scales, that merchants from whatever city may test their own standard “stone” against it. As in th case of the official “Stone” so too at the Sardar is a metal rod, which determines the Merchant foot, or gorean foot as I have called it. Raider of Gor page 127-128 "We have placed in affect the new Stone," ...which He held up..."This is the new stone that will be used in the matters of measuring the law."
...I took note and attempted to sketch a picture upon the paper.

says to ▪Unbroken diamant&: Palms meeting to settle against your satchel , while I kinda just craned myself over to the left attempting to peek around someone's legs who was sitting in front of us. kneeling on the ground doesn't give you much of a vantage point so I was trying to see. Especially since I was curious if the man speaking gestured wildly with his hands or not. It was an affliction with some of the scribe caste talking a lot with your hands that is. .. Glancing to you then while I was still in that lean over position.. "Last time I was here they argued over parchment" .. coal kissed brow with it's elegant creation arched then since that was odd even for me... Nodding gently again.. "I can point your towards some of the better booths to gain scribe supplies. Ones that will last longer and you won't have to replace as often, Mistress" ..
I was more nervous about appearing before you given my change than I was anyone else. I blamed that on the fact of you and I being friends before that happened. But I knew the law just as well as you did , frienship is dead and its place is the simplicity of Free person and slave within its place. To some who don't understand that might seem a bit cold but it was the truth and with the truth it wasn't always the most "warm" of things to digest.
Blinking a few times given the gesture towards me , and with your shake of head I noticed give me looking back towards you.. I offered my own shake to match . Someone shifted in front of us which allowed me to go back to my kneel and well allowed me to also see what was going on where the man was speaking
soft curve of ear meeting to take in what was mentioned about scales. balances of course I never knew scribes used them I figured they were more of a merchant thing.. "well duh this is a conversation on merchant law" .. inwardly rolling my eyes at my inner voice since it was irritating from time to time .. but still I continued to listen since this could possibly be beneficial to me, some how..

says to ..::*Regulators' Penumbr: -I turned my gaze to settle on you, the violet storms washed over you. I nodded to the venturing to shop and you could show me where the other vendors were that I could purchase the finer things from. I smiled to you and turned back to Skyler the lead Magistrate and I looked upon the man in his regal robes and the way he spoke of the stone and the weight of the stone and how it would rule the fairs and the laws of gor. A light shrug given as the man next to me seemed to drop his fist and screamed out "HAI Gor." I nearly fell from the seat I was situatied in. I looked to you and motioned to the man next to me, the pudgy fella that seemed to be very boisterous and one that I wish had settled in a different spot.
.....Skyler proceeded to speak.......
"The next order of business is to further dig into the Merchant laws and make sure such things are upheld."
HIs voice was stern, it inspired others to listen. Aside from being the law system adopted by many trade ports and cities, merchant law is said to be almost universally applied in areas of trade. It is almost the only law which commonly binds all cities, with probable exceptions (as with most things). Merchant law is drafted and stabilized at the fairs which are held four times a year at the foot of the Sardar Mountains. It covers as many aspects of trade and merchanting as one can think of, including, of course the market of human property. The fairs incidentally are governed by Merchant Law and supported by booth rents and taxes levied on the items exchanged. The commercial facilities of these fairs, from money changing to general banking, are the finest I know of on Gor, save those in Ar’s street of coins, and letters of credit are accepted and loans negotiated, though often at usurious rates, with what seems reckless indifference. Yet perhaps this is not so puzzling, for the Gorean cities will, within their own alls, enforce the Merchant Law when pertinent, even against their own citizens. If they did not, of courts, the fairs would be closed to the citizens of that city. Priest Kings of Gor Page 10
The man seemed to go on and on about these things.....I would scribble and write down the details. I would occasionally turn to you, I knew what was being talked about had been part of something you had been involved in, the man would look over at you and I turned to him, "She's with me, she's tending my things." My brow furrowed and I motioned him to turn away in a polite fashion.-

says to ▪Unbroken diamant&: Not being the type to be easily started I just slowly canted my head in the direction of the man who couldn't contain himself. His robes looked as if they were almost about ready to burst at the seams given his rotund form. I wondered how many platters of tarsk strips , bosk, sweets, he had to ingest to get that size. You may have viewed him as pudgy I however viewed he man as almost big as one of the moons . Well that might be an over exaggeration.. imaginations and all that
Diverting my attention away from the hugely inclined , eyes wandering back to the Magistrate speaking. Of course this was something I had heard previously. Everyone is aware of the fact what the fairs are for .. trade, coin exchanges , etc .. but some how some way it must be the vocal notes since each time someone seems to be able to express it a bit better than the last. Which in turn doesn't make you wish you were falling asleep
Again with the looks going on , I couldn't help but wonder if this was the first time a slave had sat in on a discussion. Which that couldn't be the case , or could it? .. given your reasoning to him as to why I was here it seemed to work .. Even if I was actually doing more than just tending to your things. I was also taking in the subject matter being explained... a smile came to parade across soft lips of coral hue as I quietly offered for your ears alone.. "I have no idea why people keep looking at me.. it's a bit unsettling .. Mistress" .. I was never one to want to be involved in anything that brought attention.. reaching up then feather light tips meeting to brush across binding fiber held by leather collar. If it would of been steel or iron this would be the point at which I would be scratching.. maybe my own nervous tick beginning to develop possibly

says to ..::*Regulators' Penumbr: -I had raised my hand and stood, "I understand the lengths of merchant law, but th way they function in port kar is a bit different so my question for you Sir, Skyler Chief Magistrate, Does this even pertain to all outstretches of gor? These laws you speak of?" My brow furrowed as I stood there among the others the pudgy man to my side smirked and I turned and looked at him. I held my station and merely bowed my head and turned my focus back to the chief Magistrate.
"Your name lady?" He stated....
"My name Sir is Lady N'kara born of Port Kar, yet I no longer reside there, I'm just curious about how these laws effect other region when it comes to documentations and such." I bowed my head poilitely and those violet eyes lowered in a respectful manner to my station.
"Ah, Lady N'kara scribe with subcaste," he looked through hisnotes, "Accountant yes?"...but before I could answer he continued, "These laws are implemented within the Fairs and are to be upheld throughout our world, from one land mass to another, there is no middle ground." He paused, "The wagons though, there is a bit difference with the way they deal with such things same in Torvaldslands, however within all the major Cities, the laws will be folllowed, there is no substitions when working within the laws and documentations."
His nod motioned for me to return to my seat and i turned back to you once more. I knew that the eyes of others was bothering you, and I would motion you closer to the seat so that you were well out of view of the man that needed new clothing, clothing that fit his......well his belly. There was a stench coming from him as well and Skyler struck the gavel.
"We are adjourned until tomorrow this time to carry on with the discussions. Come with notes prepared and all questions jotted down and ready." He stepped back and my own guard led him off the stage and I rose from my seat so we could be the first out of here, as I gave you all the notes and such to tuck back within the satchel.-

says to ▪Unbroken diamant&: I listened to you , and I was impressed with how eloquently you had asked your question. Since at times in a room full of men women were a bit shy about what they wanted to say.. but I was pleased to see for you that wasn't the case at all. Your question was sound and logical in its giving so I expected the same to be returned to you
But what it sounded like almost was a brushing off gesture well since I was good about picking up vocal notes of others at times. I shrugged then since to me it was a good inquiry and one that gained an answer even if it sounded a tad rushed to me. Preplanned no emotion behind it .. Scribes trade mark ...
Once it was over I took the journal and stylus as well as your satchel, rocking back to stand upright again.. once more offering a small shake of my legs to get the feeling back into them. This whole kneeling business wasn't getting any easier but I imagined over time perhaps it would. Placing your satchel upon exposed flesh of shoulder my foot steps fell in line behind you. And once we were out of the tent , men who were assigned to keep an eye on me would follow of course .. so double watching going on here .. since I was following at heeling distance there wasn't much in the way of conversation..
